Putting things in perspective...

So, on the top of the 700 billion for the financial institutions that created the mess in the first place, the federal reserve is granting an additional collateral for $2 trillion of loans to the banks. The total for the US taxpayers alone is so far in the viciny of 2 trillion dollars, add 260 billion dollars bailout package for europe, a few billion here and there... Let's try to put these numbers in perspective.

Far far away of the millions of bonuses, the private jets, about half of the population leaves with less than 2.5 dollars a day. Even further, one billion people leave with less than a dollar a day. Not trillion of dollars, not billion of dollars, not million of dollars, not thousand of dollars. a dollar.

Instead of pouring that money into a system that, out of greed, seems to have been able to destroys itself, or have been able to convince us so, you could have used that amount to help half of the world population.

So, let's compare that to the us development aid, that's around 20 billions. In two month, the US goverment has spend more than about 100 years of development aid. It clarifies what are the priorities for anyone that was still doubting

Say you have the goal of increasing by 100 percent the income of the 20% of the population that is the poorest of the world. Not too bad as a goal, isn't it ? Say you want to give that money and only use the money planned by the US to be lost by the banks. These 2 trillions would allow to double the income of one billion people for 5 years and a half. In Swaziland, the live expectency is less than 32 years, the 2 trillion would cover 15% of their life.
